Understanding Addiction

Understanding Addiction & Substance Abuse Recovery

Overcoming an addiction to opioids can be the most challenging feat that an individual faces during his or her lifetime. Individuals addicted to opioids, such as prescription painkillers, morphine, or heroin, quickly become trapped in a cycle of abuse and addiction that rapidly takes over every facet of their lives. Those addicted to opioids find themselves placing the use of substances before their careers, relationships, and even their own physical and emotional health. Detrimental health risks are a reality for those battling opioid addictions, and the emotional consequences can be just as damaging. If professional treatment is not received, the risk for overdose also becomes a possibility and can result in an untimely death.
